Sir David Ochterlony

Sir David Ochterlony (1758-1825) was a British general, born at Boston, U.S., of Scottish descent. He entered the Indian army and distinguished himself in the war against the Goorkhas. He was made a baronet, and received a pension of £1000 for his services. A a monument to his memory stands in the Maidan Park, Calcutta, now Kolkata in India.
