Sir William Muir

Sir William Muir (1819--1905) was a Scottish Orientalist and an Arabic scholar, brother of the John Muir (1810 – 1882). He was Principal of Edinburgh University. He was also in the Indian Civil Service. He wrote a "Life of Mahomet," on the rise of Mohammedanism, and on the Korân.
