SOHRAI is one of the major festivals of Jharkhand state in India. It is celebrated in the month of October-November just after Dipawali festival. The cattle owners fast for the whole day. In the night, lamps are lighted. On the following morning the cattle-shed is washed and sprinkled with holy water. However, among tribals, especially Mundas, there is a tradition to sprinkle haria, the rice beer, in place of the holy water. The cattle are fed in plenty.
