ST. AIDAN

ST. AIDAN (d. 651) was an Irish missionary, the archbishop of Lindisfarne, founder of the monastery, and the apostle of Northumbria.

He was sent thither from Iona, where he was a monk, on the invitation of King Oswald in 635.
