Trilokya Chakraborty

Trilokya Chakraborty was a revolutionary freedom fighter of India. He was popularly known as Maharaj. He was first arrested in 1908 and convicted to 6 months imprisonment. He was arrested again in 1914 in connection with Barisal Conspiracy Case, and then sentenced to 15 years rigorous imprisonment (R.I.). He was deported subsequently to Andamans jail. However, he was repatriated in 1921 and released in 1922. He was detained in 1924-1928, and again detained in 1932-1938. During the Second world war he was again detained and set free in 1946. He was associated with Congress Socialist party, and after 1938 he was one of the front line leaders of Anusheelan Samity. After independence he remained in home district. He got elected in East Pakistan Assembly (now Bangladesh). Nevertheless, he came to India on a goodwill mission in 1971 and died on 9th of August 1971 in Delhi. He passed 30 years in jail.
