Tungnath

Tungnath is a place of religious importance in the State of Uttarakhand in India. It is one of the five Kedars in the state, knows as Panch Kedar. It is situated at about 23 kms from Ukhimath at the height of about 3680 metres above sea level in Chandnath mountain, the highest among Panch Kedars. The peak of the Tungnath is the place of origin of three rivers. The famous Akashkamini river originated from this mountain. Chandrashila is also famous for mountaineering. The temple of Lord Shiv also houses an idol of Adi Shankaracharya. Nanda Devi temple is also situated at Tungnath. People also visit the nearby Akashling waterfall. According to the legend of the Kedarnath, the Lord Shiv's arms were reappeared at this very place.
