Walter William Skeat

Walter William Skeat (1835 - 1912) was an English philologist, born in London. He was professor of Anglo-Saxon at Cambridge. He was author of "Etymological Dictionary of the English Language," and a great authority on Early English literature. He was the first Director of the Dialect Society, established in 1873.
