According to the CPI, ever since Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, there is aggressive right wing push in our economic policies. Planning Commission was dismantled and replaced with NITI AYOG without taking parliament into confidence, thereby curtailing the powers of Parliament. It is a recommendation of a committee constituted by NITI AYOG that the Indian Railways must be opened for not only FDI but for commercialisation and privatization.

Indian Railways are the biggest public transport which physically unites the country. The present move of the government has raised several questions and apprehensions related to the public sector character of Railways and service to the people, the statement added. (IPA)
