The new Kerala development paradigm, named “Nava Kerala Mission’ so impressed Governor P. Sathasivam that he said in his inaugural speech other states would do well to take a leaf out of Kerala’s book. In his speech, the Governor referred to the personal initiative he took in vegetable farming, waste management and plastic eradication on Raj Bhavan premises.

The Mission will focus on four key areas: health, housing, education and agriculture.

Haritha Keralam lays stress on sustainable development and organic farming for increasing paddy and vegetable production while Ardram seeks to improve quality, services and amenities in government hospitals.

Likewise, two other initiatives aimed at providing houses and allied facilities for the homeless and reviving the fading glory of public education were also launched at the function.

The major flagship programme of the Pinarayi Vijayan-led Left Democratic Front(LDSF) Government would effectively silence critics who have been dubbing the LDF as being anti-development.

The launch of Nava Kerala Mission, Chief Minister Vijayan said, would build on the considerable gains the state has already made in the key areas of health, education, agriculture and housing.

Meanwhile, the Pinarayi Government has earned appreciation from the Centre for launching development projects in various areas.

Lauding the initiatives taken by the Chief Minister, Union Transport and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari said ever since the Vijayan Government assumed power, the National Hifghway Development project has gathered pace in the State.

Gadkari was also appreciative of the support being extended by the LDF Government to the gas pipeline project.

Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu should emulate the example of Kerala in this regard by taking greater interest in the gas pipeline project. (IPA Service)
