So much so, Mulayam Singh Yadav declined to have alliance with JD (U) and RLD as Akhilesh Yadav was opposed to any such move. It would be worth mentioning here that during Bihar elections, Mulayam Singh Yadav backed out of the grand alliance at the eleventh hour on the advice of his cousin brother Prof Ram Gopal Yadav and son Akhilesh Yadav.
Earlier, Mulayam Singh Yadav’s young brother and powerful minister Shivpal Yadav had not only addressed the public meeting at Patna but also promised full support from his party to Nitish Kumar and Lalu Yadav .
It was only after Prof Ram Gopal Yadav was removed from the party recently, Samajwadi Party state president and younger brother of Mulayam Singh Yadav and uncle of chief minister Akhilesh Yadav went to Delhi and invited RLD President Ajit Singh and RJD President Lalu Yadav and JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav to attend silver jubilee function of the party at Lucknow on November 5,
These leaders not only praised Akhilesh Yadav and Mulayam Singh Yadav at the function but also promised to be part of alliance with Samajwadi Party for UP Assembly elections scheduled for early 2017.
Ajit Singh and Sharad Yadav had several meetings with Mulayam Singh Yadav thereafter but SP leader surprised everybody when he openly said during press conference that there could only be merger and not alliance.
Shocked by the announcement made by Mulayam Singh Yadav , JD(U) and RLD and Party led by former BSP minister RK Choudhry entered into alliance and decided to contest all seats in UP.
Despite willingness of his uncle and state president Shivpal Yadav, chief minister Akhilesh Yadav forced Mulayam Singh Yadav to cancel the move for alliance.
Again Chief Minister exhibited his strength in youth force and hold in party rank and file when he launched his Vikas Rath Yatra from Lucknow to Unnao on November 3. Huge response from youth brigade from Lucknow to Unnao forced Mulayam Singh Yadav to accept growing popularity of his son chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav again succeeded in persuading his father Mulayam Singh Yadav to cancel the expulsion of Prof Ram Gopal Yadav MP and brought him back to his original position as Leader of party in Raj Sabha with honour.
Akhilesh Yadav also persuaded Mulayam Singh Yadav to meet leaders of youth brigade including MLCs who tendered appology letters to pave way to return to party fold. It would be worth mentioning here that Mulayam Singh Yadav had expelled important members of team Akhilesh who demonstrated in front of residence of SP supremo during Akhilesh-Shivpal tussle on streets.
Akhilesh Yadav was instrumental for public display of unity in the family during the inauguration of Lucknow-Agra expressway. Prof. Ram Gopal Yadav was also present at the function. So much so, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav saw to it that controversial MP Amar Singh was not invited for the inauguration of expressway.
Mulayam Singh Yadav publicly commended his chief minister son Akhilesh Yadav for completing the biggest expressway in the country in record 22 months. He also complemented his son for his performance as chief minister of UP and achievements of his government.
Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav is so conscious of image that he avoided attending the public meeting of his party at Ghazipur addressed by his father Mulayam Singh Yadav and uncle Shivpal Yadav because of the presence of leaders of Quami Ekta Dal of mafia turn politician Mukhtar Ansari. Mulayam Singh Yadav launched the party’s campaign from this rally and Akhilesh Yadav despite being face of the party and government, was absent.
There is no doubt that Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has succeeded in making it clear to public and political parties that he is the actual inheritor of political legacy of his father Mulayam Singh Yadav and he is above corruption. (IPA Service)
