In the memorandum submitted recently, the signatories, including prominent citizens of the area, said there is no southward train from Hatia/Ranchi stations till 12 noon as a result of which people have to suffer serious inconvenience.
The signatories have also demanded , among others, construction of a foot-overbridge at the station, a passenger shed, an elevated platform for the benefit of senior citizens and women and children, a two-minute stoppage of Varanasi-Sambalpur Intercity Express at Govindpur Road station and installation of an ATM at the station.
According to a prominent senior citizen signatory, Dr Chaitanya Kumar Nag, member of International Human Rights Organisation, Govindpur Road station caters to a busy area interconnecting four districts of Ranchi, Khunti, Gumla and Simdega of Jharkhand state. It deserves a better deal in terms of passenger amenities.
He particularly stressed the dire need of opening morning train from Ranchi, elevation of platform for senior citizens and the infirm and sick as also stoppage of the Varanasi –Sambalpur train.
