He said that VIPs, especially legislators, should set examples in containing crimes to be committed by servants by the single act of co-operating with police in their verifications.
Mr Jaisawal said that Delhi police has already been instructed to complete servant-verification drive as soon as possible. The Home ministry has conveyed to the Delhi police not to be daunted by the VIP status of the residents and to do every thing to ensure verification, he said.
It is worth mentioning that the capital city has lately been in the grip of spate of crimes by servants.
According to police Sources, in Lutiyan's Delhi most of the VIP's are not bothered about getting their servants verified. Even after repeated incidents of crime involving Servants, they seem to be careless and fearless.
According to sources, police is also not taking much pain as far as verifications of VIP's servants are concerned because they are scared of the VIP's clout which could land them in trouble.
An Officer says, if we insist on getting servants verified, VIPs get angry.
Another police officer said that incidents of theft and petty crimes are committed almost every day in North and South Avenue, where residents are mostly legislators.
The problem is that VIPs don't permit police to verify their servants. Their standard reply is, 'We only take people from our constituency or home town as servants and therefore there is no requirement of any such verification.'
Deputy commissioner of police New Delhi District Anand Mohan and additional DCP I.B.Rani also Confirmed the low percentage of servants verification in New Delhi police district.
However, Anand Mohan Says, “ This is not fully true that VIPs do not bother about servant verification. We have also started a campaign in which VIPs are coming forward.'#
