The Commission also advised imposition of major penalty against 74 officers including 22 from M/o Railways, 15 from Central Coalfields Ltd., 14 from Public Sector Banks, 4 each from DDA and Central Board of Excise and Customs, 2 each from Ministry of Defence, EPFO and Department of Agriculture & Cooperation. Remaining 9 cases pertained to different departments of the Government of India and PSUs.
The Commission disposed 970 complaints during the month. Of these, 728 complaints were sent for necessary action/ATR whereas 142 complaints were sent for investigation and report.
On the Commission's recommendations, the competent authorities issued sanctions for prosecution against 3 officers including 1 each from Indian Overseas Bank Central Board of Excise and Customs and Department of Defence Production.
Recoveries to the tune of Rs. 67.17 crore were affected after Commission conducted technical examination of some departments.#

MAJOR PENALTY PROCEEDINGS RECOMMENED AGAINST 69 OFFICERS

New Delhi: The Central Vigilance Commission disposed of 470 cases during November 2009 referred to it for advice. The Commission advised initiations of major penalty proceedings against 69 officers. Of these, 16 were from public sector banks, 13 from M/o Railways, 11 from Northern Coalfields Ltd., 4 from Steel Authority of India Ltd., 3 each from Mazagon Dock Ltd. & EPFO, 2 each from Central Board of Excise and Customs, DDA, Central Board of Direct Taxes and Deptt. of Suppy. The remaining 11 cases pertained to different departments of the Government of India and PSUs.
