Samajwadi Party and Congress even decided to support an independent candidate for the Rajya Sabha. They reached at common ground to do so. With this, a new ray of hope has once again surfaced for the stalled talks between the two.
According to sources in the Congress, the party president Sonia Gandhi has asked her lieutenant to give patient hearing to the Samajwadi Party leaders and their views. 'Try to be more realistic,' she reportedly told them.

The bitter acrimony between the two parties is now somewhate subsided and much water had flowed in the Yamuna since then. Leaders of both the parties have now decided not to harm their political prospect or else they may find the Bahujan Samajwadi Party winning away majority of seats.
