In 1984 Madhav Rao Scindia defeated Atal Behari Vajpayee. Al the members of Scindia family who are in politics never lost any election. In Madhya Pradesh they include Rajmata VIjaya Raje Scindia, her son Madhav Rao Scindia, her daughter Yeshodhara Raje Scindia and in Rajasthan Rajmata’s daughter Vasundhara Raje Scindia.
Till 1966 Rajmata was in Congress but in 1967 she walked out of the Congress and then fought election in 1967. In all the constituencies from which Rajmata and her nominees contested they won with big margin. In some Vidhan Sabha constituencies, the margin was so big that the Congress candidates lost their deposit.
Jyotiraditiya was so confident about his victory that he spent most of his time in UP of which he was made in charge in his capacity as general secretary. If he is finally defeated it will mean a big setback to Scindia family.
Besides Scindia another shocking defeat will be that of Digvijaay Singh. Former Chief Minister Singh is opposed by Pragya Thakur. Despite her involvement in controversies, her position remained intact and is likely to win with a big margin.
The only seat which the Congress may retain is that of Chhihndwara from where Nakul Nath, son of Chief Minister Kamal Nath is contesting. Chhindwara was always Congress stronghold. In 1977 when Congress was totally wiped out Chhindwara elected Congress nominee Gargi Shankar Mishra. In 1980 Kamal Nath contested from Chhindwara. After that he continued to retain Chhndwara. This time he sponsored his son who in all probability will win.
While Congress won only two seats in 2014, in by poll Congress candidate Kanti Lal Bhuria won Jhabua seat for Congress. The unique feature of this election is that almost all BJP candidates are winning with a greater margin in comparison to 2014 elections. Besides this the overall vote percentage of the BJP has increased from 54.03 to 58. (IPA Service)

CONGRESS FACES A ROUT IN MADHYA PRADESH
EVEN JYOTIRADITYA SCINDIA MAY BE A LOSER
L.S. Herdenia - 2019-05-23 12:09
BHOPAL: It is a total rout for Congress in Madhya Pradesh. It is worse than 2014. In 2014 Congress won two seats out of 29 but it is destined to win only one this time if the current trend continues. Even Jyotiraditya Scindia will not be able to enter Lok Sabha. If Scindia finally looses it will be for the first time that a member of Scindia family will taste defeat.
