Addressing a gathering of party workers here at Jantar Mantar, the Left leaders came down heavily on the government accusing it of betraying the common man on whose support they came to power. Amid slogan shouting general secretary of the CITU M K Pandhe said despite a steep fall in international crude prices, the government has not reduced the fuel prices, which has caused a continued rise in the prices of essential commodities.
He demanded the government should reduce the duty on the petrol, diesel and kerosene so as to give quick relief to the common man. CPI leader Ramanand while supporting the demand accused the government of playing into the hands of the corporate czars. He said the government is looting people and still claim that it has fulfilled all its promises made to the common man.
Abani Roy of Forward Bloc also extended his party's support to the Left parties and asked the government to announce a cut in the fuel prices. Those who also spoke at the rally included Dinesh Varshney of CPI and Devendra Kumar Verma of Forward Bloc.#
