Bahujan Samaj Party National President Mayawati is more critical of Congress than any other party during pandemic crisis. Mayawati's absence from opposition parties conference convened by Mrs Sonia Gandhi also assumed importance in political circle.
Is Mayawati afraid of losing her support base to an aggressive Congress under the leadership of Priyanka Gandhi for her role in taking up the issue of migrant labourers. Congress sympathy for migrant labourers has been termed as drama by Mayawati.
So much so Mayawati blamed Priyanka Gandhi for her offer of 1000 buses to bring back migrant labourers. She termed the offer as a big drama. She asked as why no buses were sent to Congress ruled states especially Maharashtra.
The recent bonhomie between Mayawati and BJP government at the centre and as well as in the state has surprised political scientists. Significantly enough Mayawati spared central as well state governments over the issue of handling migrant labourers, Mayawati blamed Congress for entire crisis.
Mayawati blamed Congress for the problems of migratory labourers who are walking hundreds of kilometres on roads to reach home while facing hardship on the way. BSP President repeatedly said that had Congress during its rule had developed the villages these migrant labourers would not have left their homes. Recent meeting of Rahul Gandhi with migrant labourers in Delhi has also been termed as mere drama by Mayawati.
The state leadership of Congress including dalit leaders also launched attack on Mayawati for hobnobbing with BJP. So much so Congress leaders charged Mayawati speaking from the statement prepared by BJP and she was behaving like spokesperson of BJP. Congress leaders went to the extent of hinting about possible tie up between Mayawati and BJP for 2022 assembly polls. The charge BSP leader Mayawati vehemently denied.
Mayawati is aware that Congress is working very hard especially in UP to bring back its earlier support base of Dalits snatched by Kansiram and Mayawati.
The aggressive posture of Priyanka Gandhi to bring back lost support base and fight for migrant labourers has unnerved the ruling party as well as opposition. (IPA Service)

The Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati is known in Uttar Pradesh for her unpredictable twists and turns in choosing her allies. For her, survival in the continuing flux in the political situation of the largest populated state of the country is the core issue and she has decided during pandemic that the Congress organisation spearheaded by Priyanka Gandhi is a bigger threat to BSP's political future in the state as compared to the BJP. Her public statement on the controversy of organising buses for the transport of migrant workers to UP is the latest example of her policy twist.
