In order to accomplish Mission 2022 assembly polls, it is imperative for Priyanka Gandhi to shift to Lucknow and mobilize the masses to take on Yogi Government head on.

Priyanka had earlier finalized a house belonging to an aunt of her grandmother Indira Gandhi. The aunt, Mrs Sheila Kaul, had represented Lucknow in the Lok Sabha on a Congress ticket several times.

Priyanka is the only opposition leader in UP to have raised issues concerning common man

Recently she questioned the government on the number of people who got job in one single day. The program was inaugurated by PM Modi, who had praised chief minister Yogi Adityanath in his speech for changing the pandemic into an opportunity.

Priyanka has also been raising the growing unemployment in PM's constituency. She talked about the nearly total loss of work in the Badhoi carpet belt where traditional workers and their families live. Similarly, she raised the issue of the sports good industry of Meerut where workers were not getting any work and facing acute problem for their families.

Priyanka had mobilized buses to bring back migrant workers from other states and repeatedly urged the Yogi government to utilize their services.

There has been much politics between Priyanka Gandhi and the Yogi government, with a lot of blame game over the buses for migrant workers, which led to the arrest of UPCC president Ajay Lalloo.

Priyanka’s decision to shift to Lucknow is expected to help in bringing back the glory of the state party headquarter, which used to be a hub of activities at one time.

Congress leaders and workers want their leader to be seen visiting the party office more frequently so that they can interact with her. If she decides to sit in UPCC headquarters then it would attract party workers from all over the state to Lucknow.

Priyanka in Lucknow will also revive old relations with the city as her grandmother Indira and her husband Firoz Gandhi had spent a few years here. They lived in Lucknow when Rajiv and Sanjay were very small.

Those days Firoz was a regular visitor to the coffee houses, which used to witness serious political discussions. Old timers also recall how Firoz was associated with Associated Journals, which published National Herald, Navjivan and Quami Awaj.

Firoz Gandhi had group of friends who included Raja Buxi, Sushil Verma SM Jafar and Kameshwar Singh.

Kameshwar Singh personally shot the film of the wedding of Firoz and Indira, which was shown at Anand Bhawan at one time. Kameshwar Singh was a freedom fighter and later on joined UP Police force. (IPA Service)
