The internal developments inside the ruling party edifice may not be audible or visible but its existence cannot be denied, particularly after the public announcement by the Sangh chief at Ranchi to disassociate the Sangh from both the NaMo government and the supporting party edifice. The party leaders are already speculating who after NaMo? In view of these speculations, the follow up actions to confessions by Vikas Dubey assume greater political importance as the state chief minister Adityanath Yogi is considered to be the frontline candidate after Narendra Modi. In the 2017 assembly elections he had no assignment but was enthroned as the Sangh nominee after the Prime Minister delivered a miracle by winning 325 seats in the House of 403 seats. The party had lost all three bye-elections to the Lok Sabha in 2018 including the Gorakhpur that Yogi vacated on his becoming the chief minister of the state. Yogi was given no role in the state assembly polls in 2017.

The assembly and the Lok Sabha bye-elections proved his political inability. He needs to build his reputation as honest and not tolerant of political misdeeds or misuse of power. The developments are the golden opportunity. The question is whether he will utilize it by display of courage or all it to go waste. Or he can take a position that no government can act on the basis of unproved facts. Confessions of the person were merely allegations to cover up his own vested interest. Every political entity suffers from similar dilemma. Yet his future depends on his follow up actions. He has already nominated the retired high court judge to investigate entire episode. Yet to most politicians he appears to be wavering in precaution unlike his other dramatic actions. It would provide him enough time and scope to work out his strategy. His action will indicate how far the Sangh is prepared to risk in conferring the change.

He does not need to worry over the future deeds or misdeeds of Vikas Dubey as he is dead if the police version is valid and accepted. If he has played the game of sending the decoy to stand trial or be shot dead, his success will keep him busy to embalm his past to survive. But the entire episode is the strange and can happy in murky political waters.
