The top leadership of the party is currently working overtime to tide over this new problem in the light of the BJP's national executive's resolve to stick to the Ram Janmabhoomi temple issue.
The principle opposition party had ordered a survey, which predicted a major loss to the party in the post-delimitation scenario in which 45 more constituencies have decisive muslim votes.
Top leadership of the BJP had deliberated upon this issue at length in the recently concluded meeting of the apex body of the party held at Nagpur to evolve ways and means to deal with the newly found problem, said a senior leader of the BJP. However, they failed to formulate any counter strategy.
The significant rise in seats in the reserve category has also posed a major threat to the party as it has lost ground among dalits.
As upcoming Lok Sabha election would be the first elections to be fought after delimitation of constituencies, the party may need to resolve many new problems arising out of the new situation, said a senior party leader.
According to an analyst the chances of polarization of votes in these constituencies are very high. The BJP has to tread its path very cautiously to make inroads, otherwise, the chances of party's coming to power look very remote.
The survey suggested that in Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh delimitation can inflict maximum damage, which has sent shivers among the top leadership of the party.
Moreover, other states also don't hold much promise for the saffron party, as number of reserved seats has also increased significantly and the party is hoping to fine tune its strategy with its allies.#
