BJP and RSS leaders were unnerved by the manner in which more than a dozen Party legislators, MPs including union ministers wrote letters to CM yogi Adityanath expressing helplessness in arranging oxygen, medicines and hospital beds for people in their areas.

BJP legislators, MPs and union ministers complained that they were unable to get things done through local officers who were totally unresponsive to their calls. What could be the sad commentary on state of affairs that BJP MLA Rajkumar Agarwal could not get FIR lodged against the hospital authorities where his son died due negligence while he was suffering from Corona.

Union minister Santosh Gangwar also wrote letter to CM expressing helplessness when his phone was not picked by local officers of his Bareilly Lok Sabha constituency from where was elected for several times.

The poor performance of BJP in panchayat polls held recently also unnerved BJP and RSS leadership. What was more shocking was that BJP lost in Hindu bastion Kashi, Mathura and Ayodhya. Especially at a time when a grand temple is under construction in Ayodhya and legal moves were on to liberate Kasi and Mathura, the defeat of BJP supported candidates made it clear that it would be very difficult for BJP to retain in 2022 assembly polls.

On the contrary, opposition parties like Samajwadi Party, BSP, RLD and Congress did well in panchayats polls. The results boosted the morale of rank and file of the parties as well as senior leaders like Akhilesh Yadav, Mayawati, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Jayant Choudhry.

It would be worth mentioning here that the BJP party leadership is also aware of dharna by more than 200 BJP MLAs inside the House when assembly session was in progress. Majority of MLAs had expressed that they were finding it difficult to get their work done through the bureaucracy which was not attending to their complaints related to general public.

At a time when assembly polls are due in March-April 2022, BJP incharge of UP Radha Mohan Singh and powerful national general secretary B L Santosh visited Lucknow and held separate meetings with chief minister Yogi Adityanath, deputy CMs Keshav Prasad Maurya, Dinesh Sharma and others ministers. These two leaders also held meetings with senior office bearers of the party organisation.

Much significance is also attached to visit of deputy chief RSS Dattatreya Hosabale to Lucknow and his meetings with senior RSS functionaries and important leaders two days before the arrival of Radha Mohan Singh and BL Santosh. Eversince these leaders returned to Delhi it is being debated as what could be the strategy for damage control.

There are discussions whether the BJP leadership could bring about changes in the ministry through reshuffle by dropping non-performing ministers and bring new faces. The reshuffle also involve the fate of former IAS officer now BJP MLC Arvind Kumar Sharma who could be made deputy CM.

It would be worth mentioning here that Arvind Kumar Sharma considered to be very close to PM Narendra Modi was sent to UP and made BJP MLC. Sharma had taken voluntary retirement from services and was sent to UP on a special mission.PM wanted Sharma in cabinet but Yogi has so far not done that.

It was expected that he would be inducted in the ministry with more powers. His work in dealing with pandemic in Lok Sabha constituency of PM Modi Varanasi was very well appreciated. There are talks about changes in the party organisation as well in view of assembly polls. Much depends now on the recommendation of the report of senior leaders who visited Lucknow and willingness of party high command to carry out the suggested changes. (IPA Service)
