The Congress asked its workers to moblise people to reach Gwalior to listen to Priyanka. Priyanka also targeted Scindia and also launched fierce attack on him. This is the first time that a Gandhi family member addressed a public meeting in Gwalior since Scindia quit Congress in March 2020 toppling the Kamal Nath government. Before reaching the venue, Priyanka paid homage at the memorial of Rani Laxmibai. At the venue Congress posters and billboard portrayed the photographs of Priyanka and Rani Laxmibai.

At the Jan Aakrohsh rally, Priyanka attacked the BJP government on alleged scams, drawing the loudest response when she mentioned the alleged MahakalLok irregularities and patwari recruitment scam which Congress calls “Vyapam-2”. “Give Congress a thumping majority. MP meinprachand badlavki lahar hai( there is tremendous wave of change in MP). Make a strong government that cannot be purchased or toppled” she said.

Speaking on the Manipur violence and the viral video of the sexual abuse of two women that shocked the world, she said “Manipur has been burning for two months. Houses are being set alight, women are being raped and tortured, children are homeless and our Prime Minister remained silent for 77 days.

“He did not speak a single word. Yesterday after the horrifying video went viral, he gave a statement but in that too he injected politics and named states where opposition parties are in power” Priyanka said. She also critised the government for rising inflation. Priyanka said “In my 30 minute speech, I can spend 10 minutes to criticise the Prime Minister, another 10 minutes on the scams of the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government and the last 10 minutes on Jyotiraditya Scindia, whose ideology changed all of a sudden. But I have not come here to divert your attention from the real issues. I have come here to speak on your issues and the biggest of them all in inflation.”

Priyanka launched a scathing attack on PM for his statement against the opposition alliance named INDIA. The AICC general secretary came down heavily on the Shivraj government over the alleged patwari recruitment scan and accused the government of being “arrogant, lazy and riddled in scams”. They did not even spare the idols of Mahakal temple” she alleged.

Recalling that the Congress government formed in 2018 was toppled by the BJP she said “The present BJP government was formed on a faulty foundation. They purchased the government with money so its very foundation is wrong, with focus on loot and scams”.

Replying to Priyanka’s criticism Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that welfare schemes were stopped by the 15-month long Congress government in the state.

Chouhan alleged that the Nath administration stopped the Rs 1,000 allowance to tribal women, scheme for laptops to students, and the Sambal Yojana. “PMAY yojana was also stopped and they did not even start the Jal Jeevan Mission work. Priyanka Gandhi should explain why” he said.

Home Minister Narottam Mishra came out in support of Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. “You (Congress) took votes in Gwalior in Scindia’s name but made Kamal Nath the CM. Priyanka Gandhi should apologise to the people of Gwalior. In 15 months, they made Vallabh Bhavan the hub of middle men.”

On Priyanka’s visit to the memorial of Rani Laxmibai, Mishra said “That is a good thing but she should also visit a gurdwara and apologise for the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Kamal Bath, who was sitting next to her, still has a case against him. In Chhatisgarh, tribal students are running naked in protest. But since it is a Congress government there she will not speak about it.”

A video of Scindia has gone viral where he tells a public meeting “Elections are approaching and foreign birds will come and here and flutter their wings. But don’t come under any misunderstanding. You should keep your focus on Gwalior’s development and progress. Have you seen the new airport? I am bringing a Rs. 500 crore airport which will be bigger than those in Bhopal and Indore”.
