The bonhomie of Congress one hand and arch rivals like SP and BSP on the other has confused the workers of all the parties. While on ground all the three parties are seen fighting for space in UP political scene, but inside Parliament, SP and BSP supported Congress during cut-motion on Finance Bill.
Commenting on situation, CPI national secretary Atul Anjan said UPA was facing trouble inside the country and as well as outside. Anjan said that UPA faced the crisis in the shape of inflation, IPL controversy, irresponsible statements of senior ministers and telecom scandal of A Raja. CPI leader said UPA also faced crisis in the shape of terrorism from outside and not-so-good relations with neighbours.
At time of threat of withdrawal of support from many parties, UPA-2 took the advantage of tussle between Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party to enlist their support inside parliament.
No wonder when support from union minister Mamata Banerjee appeared to slipping within no time, Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav got in touch with Union Minister Pranab Mukherjee and offered support.
With erosion in support base of Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh which was reflected in last Lok Sabha polls and the trend continuing in recent by-elections too, Mulayam Singh Yadav is desperate to join UPA and become minister in union cabinet.
Congress is also taking the advantage of the fact that cases of disproportionate assets against Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mayawati are pending in Supreme Court and CBI has to take decision to file charge-sheet. It is alleged that CBI was behind the manner in which BSP agreed to support UPA government during cut motion on finance bill.
The political analysts feel that bonhomie between Congress, SP and BSP will adversely affect the chances of all the three parties in next assembly polls. It is in their interest that all three political parties should be seen fighting on the ground level to capture power in the State. AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi lambasted BSP supremo and chief minister Mayawati on Ambedkar Jayanti and charged her of being anti-Dalit and having failed on all fronts.
Rahul said Mayawati government was not properly implementing Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme which could have given jobs to dalits in villages.
Mayawati too organized state-wide protest against present format of women reservation bill and addressed meeting same day and charged Congress of being anti-Dalit and anti-Ambedkar. But after BSP lent support to UPA inside Parliament AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh who is incharge of UP affairs had to thank Mayawati and welcomed BSP move to clean party from criminals. After few days Congress, BSP and Samajwadi Party were back again launching attack on each other.
The political observers feel that it was compulsion of politics and situation demanded that Congress has to fight with BSP and Samajwadi Party and BJP as well to regain space and capture power through mission 2012 of Rahul Gandhi. Any compromise of Congress with either BSP or Samajwadi party will stop the gain shown by party in last Lok Sabha polls when party got unexpectedly 22 seats from the state. (IPA)
