Netaji deeply felt that spiritual awareness was required for influential national service. Bose believed that “Hinduism was an important part of his Indianness”.
Netaji’s social consciousness appeared itself in various forms as well. He laid his life in his characteristic undaunted manner. Subhas Chandra Bose is synonymous with valour and patriotism. He was an inspirational beacon of his age and a steering as well as rousing soul of our age too.
His pure idealism, solemn thoughts and intrepid self could instill glowing optimism and strength in many helpless, doleful and disenchanted hearts. He advocated each and every Indian to feel proud of his Indian identity and to dedicate himself for liberation and development of his beloved motherland.
The leader was greatly influenced by Swami Vivekananda’s philosophical thoughts. He introduced Swamiji as the ‘Creator of Modern India’. Vivekananda advocated the path of practical approach to solve the humanitarian plights in modern India.
Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose came into Swamiji’s philosophical thoughts and ideas to rebuild India. Bose was a true believer that God dwells in every human being as he felt in Vivekananda. Netaji wanted economic resurgence and technological method in the way Swamiji looked-for.
Bose once quoted, “National defence is must in order to safeguard our freedom in the future. India need to build up modern war industries for self-defence. Netaji also thought of a democratic society that was based on equality of social and economic status and no caste and creed would be made.
Subhas. Bose was a true socialist like Vivekananda. He believed in Swamiji’s spiritual thoughts and upliftment of his countrymen and humanity. He left India in pursuit of achieving his goal of building a socialist India by driving out the British rulers. He preferred Swamiji’s value-based humanistic social state where everyone would have the opportunity to develop gender equality.
As a true humanist, Netaji also preferred moral progress as opposed to material progress to a great extent like Swami Vivekananda.
On the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, we will gain a lot if we recall the ideals and objectives he lived for. For Netaji, as we fondly remember him, it was his parents who instilled in him the sense of spirituality. And then, his searching mind, right in his school days, could make full sense of the meaning, significance and objectives of human life when he read the teachings and philosophy of Ramkrishna Paramahansa, Swami Vivekananda and Sri Aurobindo Ghose.
Ramakrishna’s emphasis on character building in general and spiritual approach to life too had a lot of influence on him. Renunciation of yearning and earthly gains, as per Ramakrishna, is vital for a spiritual life.
Netaji developed in himself the idealistic and spiritualistic virtues; and once he said, “I have a new ideal before me now, which has influenced my soul to affect my own salvation and to serve humanity by abandoning all worldly desires and breaking away from all undue restraints.”
Meditation and control over emotions changed his entire outlook towards life. He started believing of his future in terms of spiritual wellbeing and uplift of humanity. This made the idealistic aspect of his religious and spiritual bent of mind.
Netaji was deeply impressed by Aurobindo’s concept of one’s mother country: “For what is a nation? What is our mother country? It is not a part of art, nor a form of speech, nor a fiction of mind? It is a mighty Sakti collected of all the Saktis of all the millions of units that structure the nation just as Bhavani Mahisha Mardini sprang into being from the Sakti of all millions of gods and wielded into unity.
Netaji, the versatile genius was indeed one of the most spiritual political figures in Indian history. He was an avid reader of Hinduism, Islam and Christianity and even took on a few practices to reinforce his belief.. He was sincerely engaged in yoga, a spiritual discipline and rituals. He performed himself the puja of ‘Devi Durga’.
Neta jiimbibed the philosophy of Aurobindo and thought of the Indian nation as the Divine Mother, a spiritual entity, a part of the universal spirit. Thus, spiritualism and upliftment of the Indian poor formed the base of his political philosophy. (IPA Service)

On January 23 this year, the nation is going to observe 128th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Netaji was a firm believer that rashtrabhakti (patriotism) is a fusion of religion and nationalism, of the spiritual and the political. He looked for religious philosophy that would encourage political activism to lead him to find out the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and the writings of Aurobindo Ghose. In the end, he introduced his political activism with a religious aspect.
