Figure it’s got to do with Grok taking a fancy to ‘Hindi’, Bharat’s ‘khadi-boli’ and first cousin to Urdu. Also with attachments to Sanskrit and, perhaps, with Pali, too. Hindi is also anathema to Tamil, though Malayalam is not so hostile. There are loads of other Indian languages and hundreds of dialects with linkages to Hindi.

Don’t let Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin hear that. He might throw a tantrum. If not him, his son and deputy chief minister Udayanidhi Stalin would. The Stalins carry a lot of weight and are heavyweights in the opposition INDI-Alliance, the INDIA bloc. And they don’t want Hindi to overwhelm Tamil, never!

That wouldn’t bother Grok – Elon Musk’s Ai model, the one which is challenging Meta and others in the ilk. Grok is on a spree these days, making itself felt, heard and spoken in Indian circles in Hindi slang and Hindi gang-bang. Hosted by Musk’s ‘X’, previously ‘Twitter’, Grok is suddenly in the Indian ‘eye’ and maybe on its way to intensified scrutiny by the ‘Five Eyes’, no less.

It’s alleged Grok’s indulging in criminal behaviour, answering in tit-for-tat Hindi cuss-words, targeting mothers and sisters and explicitly criss-cussing with derogatory mentions of body parts which normally are not uttered in public, not even in private. The inflammatory content has caught India’s MeitY eye! Meity is a ministry of the 'Govt of Modi'.

Also, not to anybody’s surprise, Grok’s controversial posts don’t spare political figures. It is alleged, Grok’s been taken over by rightwing Sangh Parivar human bots.

Grok is however beyond scrutiny. Even the topmost court in the land cannot put a spoke in Grok’s wheel. The Supreme Court might be able to restrict and even block Grok, but none of the top justices of the land would know a thing about Grok!

They will be shooting bolts in the blue if they try to strangle Grok, fix its larynx; in plain language: shutter it down, shut it up! Does that mean Grok’s got a free run with the mind of its own? Who knows, it is not telling! And humans are learning that tangling with Ai is like haggling with an Englishman, the shopkeeper of the world.

Grok’s abusive language is a bit of a concern to the self-righteous and the godly types, but don’t expect Grok to lose sleep over this. Learn to be patient and don’t question in expletives, know that Grok knows its MCs and BCs, each one of them and is not averse to reply in expletives.

Best advice is, if you got your wits about you, don’t let Grok get under your skin and stop raising concerns about content moderation and legal action. The amorphous Social Media is another version of the mysterious Bermuda Triangle. There are reports that India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is studying Grok behaviour though what the 'babus' will learn is beyond the average Indian's grasp.

For the time being, the average Joe, those with a road to Grok-land, is having fun asking Grok questions which are answered in Hindi expletives, which is kind of 'colourful language' in polite terms. The first time, Grok broke the expletive-barrier, the Indian at the receiving end was stunned and shocked, dumbfounded, but pleasantly surprised.

He hadn't thought Grok could be so gross. The taboo 'gaali-galoch' crossed all limits of decency. Only the Central Board for Film Certification would allow such expletives to filter through, nobody else. Other reports say the government of India has taken note and MeitY is “actively and deeply engaging with X."

MeitY is expecting "speedy action" on the issue. "Has X and its AI model Grok violated the IT Intermediary Rules 2021?" asked a top babu, not having a clue himself. The man didn't even think he could have asked Grok and got the answer pat with a couple of 'gaali-galoch' thrown in for good effect!

But, of course, you can't fault him. Not when Grok's posts have been going viral all around him and he was up to his ears with calls asking him what was the all-consuming Modi government doing? Don't forget Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on first name terms not only with Musk but also with Elon's son, XÆA-Xii.

Apparently, Grok's controversial posts are viral, gathering thousands and thousands of views as 'X users' of Indian origin "bait the bot" with "gaali and galoch". One fellow asked Grok something awfully lecherous and Grok replied with a straight 'face', "Oibhos****la, chill kar!"

Grok has a funny bone. Grok has a foul mouth. And Grok can't be put down with profanity. Is Grok engaging in hate speech? Is Grok misusing Ai? Is Grok liable for breaking the law and should Grok be punished, banned? What if somebody kidnaps a child and puts him on a diet of 'Hindi Grok' day in and day out for a year, what will happen to the kid with the constant barrage of Grok gaalis?

It is all legal mumbo-jumbo from there on. Some people actually talk the legalese they peddle. That beats even Grok's command over Hindi slang and gang-bang lingo. People are talking about Section 79(1) of the IT Act and Sections 79(2) and (3). They're also haranguing Grok with "failing to meet basic safety standards" as if it wasn't Artificial Intelligence but the common average everyday human intelligence! Finally, the question about "free speech", you can't have two sets of free speech rules for Grok Ai and Human 'i'. The 'Mi Lords' should take note, it is their bounden duty. (IPA Service)
