For the first time since 2017 when BJP came to power, the representation of OBC has been increased with 26 ministers. The representation of dalits has also been increased. For the first time Since Yogi Adityanath became the chief minister the quota of total 60 ministers was filled.

With the induction of new ministers, BJP has tried to remove regional imbalance by adequate representation in eastern UP, West UP, Bundelkhand.

At a time when brahmins appeared to be unhappy in a government led by a thakur chief minister Yogi Adityanath which was reflected through several meetings by brahmin MLAs, BJP has increased the number of brahmin ministers to eight with induction of Samajwadi Party rebel and former minister Manoj Pande. Union Home minister Amit Shah had promised Manoj Pande that he would be adequately rewarded.

It would be worth mentioning here that Jitin Prasad who was made minister in UP government is now in Central government and there was requirement to fill up the vacancy . The Brahmin community earlier resented this gap many times in their representations.

Much significance is being attached to representation to powerful jat community in Western UP by induction of Bhupendra Choudhry who had been state president of the party. The other jat minister Luxmi Narain Choudhry had been in Congress, SP, BSP and RLD but Bhupendra Choudhry belongs to BJP cadre and high command was happy with his performance. Now the jat community is represented by Bhupendra Choudhry, Luxmi Narain Choudhry and KP Malik.

Balmiki community from scheduled caste and scheduled tribe has been accommodated with the induction of Surendra Delar. Earlier Anup Balmiki was made minister for state in 2022 but in 2024 he was given Lok Sabha ticket from Hathras and became MP.

With the induction of Kailash Rajput, BJP has tried to win over the powerful lodhrajput backward community which plays important role in Central UP.

It may be noted the former chief minister Kalyan Singh was from Lodh Rajput community. There was a demand that his son Rajveer Singh should be made state president. There were other leaders like Dharampal Singh and Central leaders like BL Verma were also claimants but party preferred Pankaj Choudhry from Kurmi backward community as state president. Now lodh community has three ministers as against four from Kurmi community.

Hansraj Vishwakarma MLC from Varanasi considered to be close to PM Narendra Modi was given representation . Now there are four ministers from Varanasi represented by PM Narendra Modi.

With the induction of Krishna Pasi in the ministry, BJP has attempted to win over Dalit, Pasi and women. Earlier Suresh Rahi was already a minister from the powerful dalit pasi community which will now have two members.

At a time when Samajwadi Party made Shyamlal Pal as state president and BSP made Vishwanath Pal as also state chief ,BJP also decided to promote minister of state Ajit Kumar Pal as minister of state with independent charge.

In order to win over powerful gurjar community in Western UP, Somendra Tomar was promoted and made minister of state with independent charge. BJP high command was unnerved with recent meeting of gurjar community addressed by Samajwadi Party national President Akhilesh Yadav. This meeting was organised by SP leader from Gurjar community Raj Kumar Bhati. This meeting is considered to be grand beginning of election campaign by Akhilesh Yadav.

Now it is be seen as to how induction of six new ministers Manoj Pande, Bhupendra Choudhry, Krishna Paswan , Kailash Rajput, Surendra Daler, Hansraj Vishwakarma and promotion of two ministers Ajit Pal Singh and Somendra Tomar will help social engineering for BJP i.

There is no doubt the entire exercise of ministry was done by party high command with several rounds of meeting with senior RSS leaders.

There is a realisation in BJP that Hindutva alone will not be sufficient to win the elections. They have learnt the lessons from the shocking loss of 33 seats in 2024 Lok Sabha polls from 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

What could be more shocking that party lost Ayodhya even after the construction of Ram Temple. It was all the more shocking that PM Narendra Modi was trailing behind Congress candidate Ajay Rai in Varanasi and margin of victory was reduced. Similarly Union Defence Minister Raj Nath Singh also faced tough challenge from Ravi Das Mehrotra in Lucknow.

BJP high command feels that PDA of Akhilesh Yadav succeeded in increasing the vote share and number of seats in Lok Sabha from 3 to 37 in 2024 by mobilizing OBCs and non-jatav dalits in the name of saving Constitution from possible changes.

BJP has to deal with anti-incumbency against Yogi government which complete 10 years next year. The resentment in various castes was reflected through several meetings of legislators of different castes.

BJP is also aware about the great resentment in people's representatives including MPs, MLAs and MLCs. They cannot get done work thought bureaucracy which is very powerful.

Yogi government has recently issued order to entire bureaucracy to stand and receive the people's representatives or action would be taken against them. There have been several orders in the past too but powerful bureaucracy ignored them. Now when the elections are not very far, new order was issued contain the resentment.

During the first regime of Yogi Adityanath more than 200 MLAs of ruling party staged the dharna in the Vidhan Sabha against the powerful bureaucracy.

Samajwadi Party national President Akhilesh Yadav was also very critical of recent expansion. He said that the role of state leadership was only limited to courier service as all decisions were taken in Delhi only.

Akhilesh Yadav also criticised the manner in which party hoppers were rewarded in the recent expansion while loyal workers were ignored.

BJP high command may think that it successfully carried out social engineering through expansion but it created more resentment in the party from those who were ignored for ministerial posts.

Powerful thakur leader Brij Bhushan Saran Singh who was expecting ministerial berth for his son expressed his anger through his post in social media. But there are others who will damage the party candidates during the elections next year. (IPA Service)
