For public consumption, Mayawati never gave any credit to chief minister Nitish Kumar for his personal charisma and achievements of his government which were responsible for turn around in Bihar and claimed that he won because of weak opposition.
But there is realization in the think tank of BSP and Mayawati government that if no steps were taken for development and improvement in law an order, it would be difficult to come back to power again in 2012.
Soon after Bihar results were announced, the UP Chief Minister held series of meetings with her senior officers, ministers and party legislators to review the situation and evolve future strategy for Mission 2012.
Chief Minister Mayawati addressed the meeting of senior officers from all over the state and directed them to work to improve the law and order situation.
Mayawati asked the officers to monitor the incidents of atrocities on harijan and women and warned that stern action would be taken if there is any laxity on the part of the officers.
She announced that cabinet secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh would monitor the law and order situation and would take review meeting and apprise the chief minister from time to time.
Chief Minister Mayawati is aware that she came to power on the plank of improvement in law and order which was at the lowest ebb during Mulayam Singh Yadav’s regime. At a time when entire opposition has alleged deterioration of law and order during Mayawati’s regime, any laxity on the part of government would create hurdles for BSP coming back to power again.
Mayawati is also serious about development work. During last thre and half years she made political issue of not getting enough support from centre regarding development work.
She is repeatedly blaming UPA government for not giving special package of Rs 80,000 crore demanded by state government for Poorvanchal and Bundelkhand.
Chief Minister has asked the state administration to give top priority to development work. She also announced that her close lieutenant and Brahmin face of party Mr Satish Mishra MP would monitor the pending development work who would ensure that all work are completed in time bound manner.
During her address to ministers and party legislators, Mayawati directed them to keep way from mafia and anti-social elements.
The Chief Minister directed the ministers and party legislators to spread the message of achievements of BSP government for all sections of society especially Dalits and Muslims.
She also got booklets containing achievements of the BSP government especially programmes for Dalits to counter the allegation of Mr PL Punia, chairman of National Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
She also openly charged Mr PL Punia, who had been her secretary, of misleading the public about increase in atrocities during her regime.
Mayawati also announced that she would not give ticket to relatives of party leaders in next UP Assembly elections scheduled for 2012. She has also directed her party leaders to organise meetings of “bhaichara samiti” with different sections of society from state capital to village level to enlarge the base of the party before UP assembly polls.
