Samajwadi Party spokesman Rajendra Choudhry said that there was secret pact between AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi and Mayawati government which facilitated Rahul Gandhi to visit Bhatta Persaul village in Greater Noida.
SP leader said leaders of Samajwadi Party, Leader of Opposition Shivpal Yadav and leaders of other political parties were not allowed to visit the village on the pretext of imposition of Section 144. He alleged as part of secret deal, Section 144 was removed to allow Rahul Gandhi to visit the village and it was reimposed when he left the village.
SP leader said framers had been suffering in the state and in Noida itself two years back farmers had been killed in police firing but Congress never raised the issue. Commenting on Rahul Gandhi’s sudden interest in farmers, Rajendra Choudhry said the same leader never bothered to visit Vidarbha region in Maharashtra where farmers had been committing suicides for the last so many years but took the issue in UP in view of forthcoming assembly polls.
Terming Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Bhatta Persaul nothing but drama, Rajendra Choudhry said his party would take up the issue of farmers and his party would reach to every village in the state in next two months. He alleged that Congress and BSP were making farmers as their pawn in their political games. Only SP has the real sympathy for farmers, he claimed.
Samajwadi party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said that his party would continue to fight for farmers' rights and that UP Chief Minister Mayawati was responsible for the farmer-police clash in Greater Noida.
'None other than the chief minister is responsible for the clashes there...It's a part of the conspiracy by the chief minister, who wants to remain in power even as farmers and police continue to clash. We will continue to support farmers so that they are not denied of their rights,' Yadav told media in Lucknow recently.
'We have learnt that before the violence erupted, the farmers staged a demonstration for around two-three months to register their protest against the acquisition of their land. But, the state government did not pay heed. The government should have invited the farmers for talks to settle the issue,' added Yadav.
Asked whether he seeks Mayawati's resignation in the wake of the farmer-police clash in Greater Noida that left four people killed, Yadav replied, 'No...the public and the farmers of the state would dethrone Mayawati.'
Unfolding the plan of Samajwadi party to take up the issue of framers in a big way to counter the influence of Rahul Gandhi , Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav convened the meeting of senior office-bearers and asked them to hold district level conference of party in all over the state on June 2 to highlight the issue of farmers.
Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav also announced that party will hold national conference of party in Agra on June 7 and 8 where farmers issues would be discussed prominently along with others issues including preparation for assembly polls in 2012. (IPA)
