The theme of the competition is “Relationships within Families” and the length of the story should not exceed 3,000 words.

The three best entries will be awarded with cash prizes of Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 each.

The competition will be open to all women writers with the exception of office bearers and managing committee members of the IWPC and their immediate families.

Each entry should be an original, unpublished work which is not under consideration for any other competition at the time of submission of the short story.

The entries are to be submitted in English, and IWPC reserves the right to publish a selection of the entries in an anthology.

Two copies of each entry should be submitted, typewritten in double space with the title of the story and the name and address of the author on a separate sheet of paper.

Entries for the short story competition should be sent in a sealed envelope addressed to Indian Women's Press Corps, (Short Story Competition), 5 Windsor Place, New Delhi- 110001.

The last day for submission of entries is November 15, 2011.

A panel of eminent writers and critics will form a three-member jury that will judge the entries. Their decision will be final with respect to the prize-winning entries.

The IWPC was set up in 1994 and has over the years emerged as a reputed professional body of women journalists. It now has over 600 members from television, print, radio and online media. It undertakes a host of activities to facilitate women journalists in their pursuit of professional excellence.
