“All the best, may you come out withflying colours”, said Air Marshal J N Burma as he flagged off the ‘Sky Hawkz’ This car rally team is led by Group Captain M K Abrol VSM, who has a record of completing all the rallies he has participated in so far.
Slated to cover a total distance of 300 kms, from Simla to Srinagar, the rally will traverse treacherous cliffhanger route from Simla to Manali via Chach Galu Pass and enter Jammu and Kashmir via Rohtang Pass. Negotiating the treacherous mountainous terrain it would drive through Khardung La, Nubra Valley and Zanskar Valley before moving to Padam concluding at Srinagar going through Kargil, Drass and Zozi La Pass.
Sky Hawkz had participated in Motorsports events since early eighties and has won many car racing events since early eighties and has won many Car Racing events ever since, such as the South India Car Rally, Desert Storm in 2005, Horn Bell in the North East and Raid-de-Himalayas in 2006.
The team members led by group Captain MK Abrol are Wing Commander Ajay Pratap, Wing Commander Ashish Kumar, Wing Commander Manish Choudhary, Squadron Leader Archit Kapur, Junior Warrant Officer AK Singh as the competitors along with Wing Commander Rajiv Gakhar, Squadron Leader D S Bairwal, Squadron Leader P Satish Kumar, Corporal Ashwini Yadav, Corporal Priyank Varshney, Corporal Anand, Corporal Karan.
