Kalyan Singh has announced 159 candidates of his party and the list of rest of candidates would be declared after sometime. The study of the list of Jan Kranti party reveals that a large number of backwards have been given tickets by Kalyan Singh who himself belongs to lodh rajput backward community which commands influence in at least 40 sets of central UP.
Interestingly Kalyan Singh has also given to those persons who had been with BJP for long time and were not expecting party tickets. Kalyan Singh would also like to damage BJP by giving party tickets to those who would be denied by saffron party. Anybody who is denied party tickets work on only formula to defeat the official candidate.
Kalyan Singh has been saying that he would campaign against BJP by telling voters that their vote for BJP would go in favor of corrupt regime of Mayawati as saffron party would help Mayawati in becoming chief minister if she emerged as leader of single largest party after the polls in 2012. Former chief minister said that voters were aware of the fact that BJP had helped thrice in the past helping Mayawati becoming chief minister.
Kalyan Singh said that voters were not convince by the BJP leadership’s assertion that their party would not support Mayawati this time. He is all set to focus his campaign on corruption of BJP and expose senior leaders. Former chief minister will also target senior BJP leader LK Advani against whom he has been demanding charge-sheet in note for vote scam.
Kalyan Singh condemned the Rath Yatra of LK Advani on the issue of corruption and said that he had no moral authority to speak on the issue as most of BJP governments in state were facing corruption charges. He is also very critical of rath yatra being carried out in UP by Kalraj Mishra and Rajnath Singh
In order to embarrass BJP leadership and emerge as face of aggressive Hindutva, Kalyan Singh who as CM presided over the demolition of the Babri Mosque, announced that he would launch his campaign by having darshan of Ramlalla at Ayodhya.
Political analysts feel that Kalyan Singh and his party may not win many seats in UP assembly polls but it can certainly damage BJP to a great extent in multi-cornered elections where each vote would matter. During last assembly polls in 2007 and again in 2009 Lok Sabha polls, Kalyan Singh damaged BJP candidates in a large number of constituencies. (IPA Service)
