The visiting UK Foreign Secretary William Hague also discussed with the Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid the security situation in Afghanistan, Pakistan and other parts of the region and cooperation in key areas, including civil nuclear energy, defence, counter-terrorism and cyber security here on Thursday.
The two leaders, held comprehensive delegation-level talks, also discussed international issues such as Syria with both sides expressing readiness to support the efforts for peaceful resolution to the crisis there.
In a reply to a quesion on the British aid of 280 million pounds per year to India, Khurshid said, aid is past, trade is future and the countries are looking at the future.
British Foreign Minister said that his country will continue to support India's claim for a permanent seat in the United Nations Security council.
Both the countries also agreed to enhance cooperation in civil nuclear area and green energy initiatives.
The two sides also decided to enhance cooperation in the area of cyber security, structured dialogue which was held for the first time last month, and agreed to conduct their Cyber Dialogue on a bi-annual basis.
