India has been invited to participate in in the ‘High-level International Humanitarian Pledging Conference for Syria’ in Kuwait under the initiative of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
The Conference is being hosted by the Emir of Kuwait.

The Indian Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed left for Kuwait to the attend the Conference on January 30 and would be pledging an amount of around Rs. 14 crore ($260700.04) towards humanitarian assistance to the people of Syria, according to sources in the Indian External Affairs Ministry.

India has been closely following the developments in Syria and is deeply concerned about the hardships and sufferings of the people of Syria as a result of unabated violence in Syria.

India has already responded positively to the humanitarian needs of the people of Syria and had decided to provide humanitarian assistance to Syria in the form of life saving drugs, fortified biscuits, food and other essential items needed by the Syrian people.
