All major political parties are gearing up for preparations to face the electorates to secure more seats in Lok Sabha.
Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, who is also the state president of Samajwadi Party, made it clear that there was possibility of early polls.
Akhilesh Yadav called upon his party leaders and party workers to be ready to face the election later this year.
Samajwadi Party has already announced the list of party candidates taking the lead over rival political parties.
Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and his chief minister son Akhilesh Yadav have been asking their party leaders and party workers to work hard to ensure 5-60 seats out of total 80 seats from UP.
Mulayam and Akhilesh have been asking their party workers to send maximum number of members in Lok Sabha to make Mulayam Singh as Prime Minister should Indian voters vote for a hung Lok Sabha.
Mulayam and Akhilesh Yadav have also been stressing the need for a third front keeping BJP and Congress at a distance.
They are working for making the SP supremo as leader of third front if the party gets good number of seats.
Main opposition party BSP is also working on the same direction to make party supremo Mayawati the prime minister.
Bahujan Samaj Party has almost finalised the list of party candidates and they have been asked to work in their constituencies.
Mayawati, too, has been asking her party workers all over the country to send good number of members in Lok Sabha so that she should address the nation from Red fort as prime minister.
Mayawati is touring the entire country and asking people to support quota within quota for dalits in promotion in government services. Through this vital issue Mayawati wants to emerge as undisputed leaders of dalits all over the country.
Although Mayawati announced that her party’s support to UPA government, after withdrawal of support by DMK, was unconditional, she is still mounting pressure on UPA government to muster support to get the bill on quota in promotion passed in Parliament.
BJP national president Rajnath Singh who is from UP is also taking interest in preparations for Lok Sabha elections in the state.
BJP state president Laxmikant Bajpai too has announced that his party was ready to face early polls.
But he has approached party leaders to keep in mind the opposition of upper caste to bill on promotion for dalits. BJP cannot afford to antagonise upper caste, which constitutes major part of the traditional vote bank of the party.
Although BJP has yet not announced the list of party candidates but party observers and member from RSS are in touch with grass-root level workers to assess the mood of people for probable candidates.
There is section of party leaders and workers who want that Gujarat CM Narendra Modi should be fielded from Lucknow to mobilise public in neighbouring districts as well and party would not only be revived but would get good number of seats as a result. BJP leaders feel that the return of Kalyan Singh should also be encashed properly in Lodh, Rajput dominated areas in central UP. The party should start making tours of Kalyan Singh in different parts for backward consolidation.
BJP is also working with VHP and RSS for revival of feeling of Hindutva to mobilise public opinion and the issue of Ram Temple was raised in the presence of BJP national president Rajnath Singh at Dharam Sansad at Allahabad during Maha Kumbh recently.
While Congress leaders and party workers are demoralised during to setback to party’s image because of so many scams surfacing in UPA government but AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi recently told party MPs that they should work hard in their constituencies and party would not increase the present tally of 21 and he was confident that party would get more then 40 seats in Lok Sabha from state.
The zonal heads of party are worried that while on one hand they have been asked to set up party organisation at grass root levels and pick up suitable candidates, but party high command has also sent observers too to find out candidates.
Congress MPs reportedly informed Rahul Gandhi that experiment of dividing party in to eight zones had failed and weakness of party organisation was visible.
While on one hand Samajwadi Party is supporting UPA despite attack from Union Minister Beni Prasad Verma on SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, state Congress has organised dharna against Akhilesh Yadav government for the failure in law and order and corruption in UP.
Senior leaders from Congress have openly condemned the behavior of Union Minister Beni Prasad Verma for his critical remarks against Mulayam Singh.
Veteran Congress leaders Ram Krishna Dwivedi and Ameer Haider have urged party high command to take action against Beni Prasad Verma.
Significantly enough, Samajwadi Party has announced that it would not field party candidate against Sonia Gandhi in Rae Bareli. Congress workers expect that SP would repeat similar gesture in Amethi as well. (IPA Service)
