BSP supremo Mayawati has been asking her party leaders, workers and voters to vote for BSP in a big way to make her prime minister so that she should unfurl the national flag from after 2014 polls.

In order to make this happen, the BSP national president has been raising the issue of quota for dalits in promotions in order to emerge as the only national-level dalit leader.

In Uttar Pradesh, where she became chief minister again and again, Mayawati is concentrating on social engineering and deterioration of law and order in the Akhilesh Yadav government.

Mayawati recently held the meeting of her party MPs, MLAs, MLCs and other important office-bearers and revived the bhaichara samities all over the state.

With this decision, Mayawati made it clear that she wanted to bank on social engineering formula which helped her in 2007 assembly polls when she came to power on its own.

In this series, Mayawati convened the first meeting with brahmin bhaichara samiti and declared 19 brahmin candidates,

It would be worth mentioning here that during 2009 Lok Sabha polls BSP had given ticket to 20 brahmin candidates and five had won the elections. All of them have been given the tickets.

It would be worth mentioning here that although bahmins had voted for BSP in 2007 assembly polls, but their support went down in 2009 Lok Sabha and 2012 assembly polls.

In the presence of Satish Chandra Mishra MP, slogans praising unity of BSP and Brahmins were raised. Brahmins were shouting ,”Haathi nahin hai Brahma Vishnu Mahesh hai” Yet another slogan , “haathi Sankh bjaiga—hathi Dilli jaiga”.

In order to win over voter Brahmins to her side, Mayawati has been saying that Brahmin and and dalits were not safe under the regime of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

Mayawati has also released the list of 17 dalit candidates and she would also accommodate other castes to promote social engineering.

In her meetings, Mayawati cites the example of atrocities by the police on Brahmin families in Etawah.

It would be worth mentioning here that Brahmin constitute 11 per cent of UP’s population and play important role in 30 out of 80 Lok Sabha seas in UP.

BSP has also decided to organise Brahmin bhaichara convention in 36 Lok Sabha constituencies to reach out to Brahmins at grass-root level.

Mayawati blames the opposition for misinformation which led to shifting of Brahmin from the party in 2009 and again in 2012 assembly polls.

Beside bhaichara samiti for social engineering formula, Mayawati is also concentrating on deterioration in law and order under the Akhilesh Yadav regime.

Mayawati has accused Akhilesh Yadav for having failed to maintain law and order in Samajwadi party regime.

The former chief minister also alleged that Akhilesh Yadav government was not taking any action against SP goons and mafia who were ruling the roost. She went to the extent of terming SP goons as terrorists.

Mayawati claimed that during her regime law and order was much better and women and dalits were feeling secured.

Mayawati has succeeded in telling the masses that her regime was better regime then that of Samajwadi Party as far as law and order was concerned.

On the other hand Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav often admitted deterioration in law and order but promised to improve the situation but much damage had already been done in area which resulted in recent shifting of AC Sharma from the post of DGP.

The political analysts also feel that BSP would do well under the leadership of Mayawati in 2014 Lok Sabha polls and could capitalise on fall in vote percentage of SP, BJP and Congress.(IPA)
