Significantly enough everyone knew right from the beginning that 84 kosi prokrama programme was a fixed match between Samajwadi Party and BJP.
Since majority of poll surveys so far have shown that BJP is not doing so well in UP even after the announcement of Gujarat CM Narendra Modi as in charge of poll campaign the sangh parivar showed serious concern about 84 kosi parikrama programme.
It is no longer secret that VHP programme for parikrama was part of the grand design of the sangh parivar to revive Hindutva feeling to garner support from majority community for 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
The manner in which Samajwadi Party government imposed ban on the parikrama, VHP blamed it on state cabinet minister Mohd Azam Khan, who is considered to be muslim face of the party.
BJP and other members of Sangh Parivar will go to masses saying that 84 kosi parikrama by VHP sants to create awareness about Ram temple at Ayodhya was a right of Hindu community while Samajwadi Party was only working for the interests of minority community by imposing ban on it.
VHP leaders Ashok Singhal, Praveen Bhai Thogadia and others have already started campaign to take the message of 84 kosi parikrama to masses all over the Hindi belt.
It would be worth mentioning here that after Akhilesh Yadav government announced its decision to impose ban and also Allahabad High Court supporting ban, VHP announced country-wide demonstration programme.
On the other hand it was perceived that Samajwadi Party may not get support from Muslim community in Lok Sabha polls as Congress alone was capable to stop BJP from coming to power.
So in order to prevent shifting of Muslim votes toward Congress, ban on 84 kosi parikrama would be utilized to consolidate minority community votes.
Now Samajwadi Party leaders will go to masses by claiming that it had almost sacrificed government while protecting Babri mosque from Karsewaks in 1990 and again it imposed ban on VHP Parikrama in Ayodhya.
Senior political analyst Surendra Rajput says that Samajwadi Party and BJP will try to go to masses with 84 kosi prikrama programme in their own way but time alone will tell whether they would be benefitted by this programme which was already fixed. (IPA)
