UP with 80 seats in Lok Sabha is very crucial for all major political parties and their leaders. There is realization among the key players in the state politics that the road to New Delhi lies through Lucknow. That is why, all major political parties and their candidates for prime ministership, are active in UP and addressing big meetings.
Lead has been taken by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi who has already addressed rallies in Aligarh and Rampur while he would address more rallies in future.
Rahul Gandhi has attacked Samajwadi Party and BJP for instigating communal politics which resulted in riots in Muzaffarnagar and other places in UP during last 18 months.
Congress Vice-President also targeted BSP supremo Mayawati for not promoting any other dalit leader in the party. BSP supremo also retaliated by accusing Congress of being anti-dalit.
Rahul Gandhi has been saying that various central government schemes especially food at cheaper rate were not reaching to the poor in the state as Akhilesh Yadav government had yet not implemented it. The Congress leaders has been assuring the UP voters of speedy development in the state and said that his Party will not follow caste or communal agenda after coming back to power.
BJP will launch its campaign through nine public rallies to be addressed by party’s prime minister candidate Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi in three months time in different parts of the state.
Modi will address his first rally in Kanpur on October 19 and Lucknow on December 25. Much significance is being attached to Lucknow rally on the occasion of birthday of former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee who had represented this city of erstwhile nawabs many times.
Samajwadi Party too has announced that its leaders Mulayam Singh Yadav and his son chief minister Akhilesh Yadav will address 18 rallies in various parts of the state in next few months.
Samajwadi Party will launch its campaign by holding a grand rally at Azamgarh on October 29 followed by other rallies in all the 18 divisions in next few months. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav who is also state president of the party laid emphasis on constituency wises meeting in second phase of the campaigning.
At an important meeting of the party regarding poll preparations, chief minister Akhilesh Yadav talked about setting up booth level committees and holding party meetings at every constituency.
In an attempt to consolidate its hold over backward communities in the state Mulayam Singh Yadav held the meeting of backward cell of the party and announced that his party will roll out two social justice yatra from party headquarters on October 26,
As per the programme, the yatras would cover almost entire state and return to Lucknow where big public meeting would be held on December 16. As per the programme, Mulayam Singh Yadav will flag off the yatra at party headquarters and later on address the rally.
Although BSP has yet not announced its programme, but party leaders are busy in giving final shape for public rallies to be address by supremo Mayawati who is the only star speaker of the party. (IPA Service)
