Although Akhilesh Yadav may say that he is also an Aam Aadmi when compared to Arvind Kejriwal, but people know that he’s facing a tough task to deal with the situation in UP.

How could young chief minister Akhilesh Yadav could perform efficiently when his own father and SP national President Mulayam Singh Yadav and uncles Ram Gopal Yadav and Shivpal Yadav are constantly criticising Samajwadi Party government and the chief minister for poor law and order situation and failure of the government on various fronts?

Instead of giving a free hand to Akhilesh, who was the face of the party in 2012 assembly polls’ campaign that brought SP to power, all the seniors are seen criticising him publicly.

So much so that chief minister is not free to govern his own secretariat where he finds it difficult to get his order implemented.

With so many power centres in the government, the bureaucrats are also puzzled on whom to take order from and implement them.

There are cases when chief minister Akhilesh Yadav was not even aware about important orders and changes in the government.

Ever smiling chief minister known for giving respect to elders finds himself running to doors to pacify certain “senior ministers” who often show their anger publicly.

This remains the case despite the entire opposition’s joining hands in UP Assembly to praise the efforts to young chief minister Akhilesh Yadav to bring development as main agenda of the government.

The chief minister did make efforts to bring investment and improve law and order but all his efforts went in vain with so many power centres in the government.

The same Akhilesh Yadav who earned good name for blocking entry of mafia-turned-politician DP Yadav in his party during elections was not able to defend distribution of party ticket to Atiq Ahmad, mafia-turned-politician from Sultanpur. Ahmad demonstrated show of strength with show of arms during his recent visit to Sultanpur from where he is contesting the Lok Sabha polls.

When asked by newsmen an embarrassed, Akhilesh Yadav had no option but to say that nobody was above law. But he could not do anything when Mulayam gave ticket to Atiq Ahmad. There are efforts to bring close family members of another mafia-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari into the party fold and given them tickets.

Political commentators feel that although Muzaffarnagar communal riots have done more harm to the party for 2014 Lok Sabha polls, but still Akhilesh Yadav could improve chances if he were given a free hand by his father and the many uncles. (IPA)
