The community saw the hope of revival when Congress Party strolled into center stage after a gap of eight years. But little they realize that the community is again at the crossroad, a top Muslim clergy said.

Interestingly, the community leaders feels that after spate of attack over the community no senior Muslim leaders of the Congress Party have met any bereaved family to assuage their feelings.

The community is so peeved over the alleged encounter by the Delhi Police that Mr Mujtaba Faroque, Chairman, Jamait-Islami said that the recent encounter is seen as an attempt to save the skin of Home Minister Shivraj Patil.

In a move that caused great embarrassment to the ruling United Progressive Alliance coalition government by Muslim League Chairman and Minister of State in the UPA government E Ahmed, who come down heavily on the UPA government and saying the UPA government has failed to live up to the expectations of the Muslims and they are at their wits end.

Meanwhile group of senior community leaders have decided to meet Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi and convey their feelings about the shocking behaviour of the state police. They feel despite the submission of Sachar Commission report that studied the plight of Muslim community in the country, the ruling party has not been able to mount pressure on its government to implement the report at the earliest.

The unrest within the community is strong enough to upset the electoral applecart of Congress that has pinned its hope to return to power in poll-bound states of Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan on Muslim community. (EON)
