The Election Commission declared the schedule for polls to 16th Lok Sabha and three state assemblies here on Wednesday. The programme for presentation of the interim report of the Monitoring Committee on government’s implementation of the Sachar panel recommendations to the Minister was suddenly called off. Khan thus missed the opportunity of displaying his report card and making promises for the remaining days. He cannot do so now being bound by the code of conduct which comes into place with the notification and declaration of the schedule for the upcoming 2014 polls.
However, the Union Home Ministry in an official release on Wednesday has said that it has withdrawn from the acquisition of some Wakf properties under the control of Land and Development Office and Delhi Development Authority (DDA) - 61 such cases were under Land and Development Office and 62 under DDA.
The release said that no compensation shall be paid by the Government or Delhi Development Authority or other Government entities in respect of such properties.
Cases pertaining to the said properties filed by the Delhi Wakf Board against the government or the Delhi Development Authority pending in any court of law shall be withdrawn first.
After withdrawal from the acquisition, the titles of the aforesaid properties shall revert to the original owners namely, the Delhi Wakf Board or Mutawalis, as the case may be.
