Mr Gill has written this in a preface of a book named “Narendra Modi: Ikkisvin sadi ka nayak” (Narendra Modi: the Hero of 21st Century”. Nobody had any suspicion about such a widespread reaction of the Godhra episode in a state like Gujarat which has generally peaceful record, and therefore the state police was not yet prepared to control the riots.

He wrote in his preface that 'Narendra Modi had given strict instructions to the police and administrative officials to control the riots and give security to the riot-affected people. Had he been inimical towards Muslims, what was the need for him to call me to the state to control the riots!'

“He had given me total freedom for controlling the riots and giving security to the riot-affected people. He had never put restrictions on the steps I took. I gave new ideas as to how the police should go ahead in their action against rioters,” Mr Gill wrote.

He wrote further that the steps taken yielded positive results. Where is the police force found in the rural areas! I made arrangements for deploying police force in the rural areas too.

“The biggest challenge was the security of the relief camps for riot-affected people. I made the camps secured to prevent any criminal activity. The people living in the relief camps were given full security cover,”he wrote.

He has also written that the government of Gujarat had made arrangements for foods and medicines and had deployed doctors. I reject this allegation that the relief camps were left on the mercy of god or rioters were given chance to perpetrate violence.

“Narendra Modi used to visit the relief camps on regular basis. He had also accompanied Lal Krishna Advani during his visit to several relief camps, and there are visual proofs of the same,” wrote Mr Gill.

The book is written by Vishnugupt, a well known Hindi journalist and columnist. It contains over three hundred pages and covers a wide range of issues relating to Narendra Modi. The book is going to be released soon in New Delhi.
