Much significance is being attached to maiden visit to Lucknow after taking over as national president of his party.

During his visit, Amit Shah addressed party MPs, MLAs and office-bearers of those constituencies going for polls in September. He made it clear that he and Prime Minister Narendra Modi would monitor the developments in UP and party must ensure victory in all the 12 assembly and one Lok Sabha seat.

It would be worth mentioning here that Amit Shah made it clear that close relatives or family members of party MP or MLA would not be considered for party ticket. Everybody knows that senior leaders like former MP Lalji Tandon, Union Minister Kalraj Mishra, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh are all keen to put their sons in by-polls.

Amit Shah told BJP MPs, MLAs that people from their constituencies reaching to BJP national headquarters told him that they were not happy with performance so far. He asked all MPs to set up their public relations office in the constituencies so that they should be available to general public daily at the announced time.

BJP national president also told party leaders that they should all ensure that the party should retain the seats won in 2012 assembly polls.

It may be mentioned that vacancies were created in 12 assembly constituencies as 11 BJP and one Apna Dal President Arupriya Patel got elected to Lok Sabha. Only one Lok Sabah seat was vacated by Samajwadi party national president Mulayam Singh Yadav who also got elected from Azamgarh.

Amit Shah is aware of the fact that if BJP fails to get all the seats then it would amount to decline in the popularity of PM Narendra Modi as BJP and alliance partner made clean sweep in UP by winning 73 out of total 80 Lok Sabha seats.

BJP leadership does not want that Uttarakhand type situation should be repeated in UP. It so happened that in Uttarakhand, BJP had won all Lok Sabha seats but got jolt when Congress won all the three assembly seats in by-election held recently.

In order to counter the propaganda from Mulayam Singh Yadav, Amit Shah has asked party leaders and workers to spread out in the state especially in those constituencies where polls would be held to convey the achievements of Modi government during last three months.

While BJP has yet to announce party nominees for assembly and Lok Sabha seats, Apna dal has announced state party president Krishna Patel from Rohaniya assembly seat won by Arupriya Patel.

Keeping all these aspects Amit Shah announced that he goal would be to install BJP government in 2017 for which efforts should begin now. (IPA)
