Political analysts think that the Sangh Parivar, including BJP leadership, is unnerved by sharp decline in popularity of PM Narendra Modi.

Senior leaders of BJP in UP as well party president Amit Shah are worried with the defeat of BJP candidates in last 15 by-elections for UP Assembly since last Lok Sabha polls when party swept the polls with 73 seats out of total 80 in the state.

There is a growing realisation that BJP leadership has nothing to show to the public in the name of a report card. Party MPs like Bharat Singh from Ballia have already openly said that no work was being done in their constituencies.

So much so, even the central ministers have no say in their ministries as bureaucrats under the guidance from powerful PMO were at the helm of affairs.

Under these circumstances, the BJP leadership wants to give the message to the country that by holding rally at the birthplace of the founder president of Jana Sangh Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay, the party and the government are committed toward the Sangh Parivar tenets.

On the other hand, the party also wants to give out the message to the voters that Hindutva agenda with temples in Mathura, Kashi and Ayodhya were still relevant, especially for 2017 mission UP.

In the absence of any charismatic face like Modi in UP, the party has no mission of Antyodaya, which meant empowerment of the downtrodden, as an alternative to the old tactics of selling Hindutva.

Significantly enough, the VHP leaders and other members of the Sangh Parivar have been raising the issue of temple at Ayodhya from time to time.

Recently, state executive of Bhartiya Yuva Morcha also met in Ayodhya and BJP MPs who were participating at he meeting raised the issue of Ram temple.

During last one year, leaders of Hindutva like Mahant Adityanath of Gorakhpur and another BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj have been raising the issue of love jihad, ghar vapsi and more children for Hindus to counter Muslims and there was no action from party high command which amounted to quiet support.

So Mathura rally of PM Narendra Modi would be turning point for party’s Hindutva agenda for mission 2017 to capture power in the state. (IPA)
