Traffic at Indian Ports to Grow at 11.32% Annually

New Delhi: The Minister of Shipping Shri G K Wasan today addressing the India Public Private Partnership Conclave on “Reforms, Development and Urbanisation” has said that to sustain India’s present high rate of growth, India has to increase its share in world trade. Since 95% of India’s external trade by Volume and 70% by Value takes place through Ports, it is imperative to augment and upgrade Port infrastructure.

India and Malaysia Signs MoU in the Field of Highway Management and Development

New Delhi: India and Malaysia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote technical assistance services in the field of highway management and development in India. The MoU was signed by Shri Kamal Nath, Minister of Road Transport and Highway, Government of India and Dato’ Shaziman bin Abu Mansor, Minister of Works, Government of Malaysia, in the presence of Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia at Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.

Lifetime achievement award to Prof. D.P. Chattopadhyaya and Prof. Balasubramanian

Civil Aviation Ministry Sets up Working Group on Regulatory Framework

New Delhi: In pursuance of the decision taken in the First meeting of Civil Aviation Economic Advisory Council held on 13 December 2010, it has been decided to set up a Working Group on Regulatory Framework to protect consumer interest including disclosure of tariffs and conditions of service by domestic airlines under Civil Aviation Economic Advisory Council (CAEAC) in the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

24th December is an important day in the history of consumer movement in India as on this day the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 came into existence. Consumer Protection Act is considered as the Magna Carta for protecting consumer rights through establishment of advisory and adjudication authorities. This year the theme proposed by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs is “Consumers! Discharge your Responsibilities: Assert your Rights” which clearly means ‘there cannot be rights without responsibilities’.
