Every life lost by the migrant labour in the wake of the lockdown must be considered a martyrdom in the country’s defence against coronavirus. New Delhi: The grand old man of Indian hockey Balbir Singh (Senior) was cremated here today with full state honours at an electric crematorium, with his maternal grandson Kabir performing the last rites in the presence of Sikh priests. He died at a Mohali Hospital, near Chandigarh on Monday morning. He was admitted to the hospital on May 8 due to pneumonia and was on ventilator support.
