Amritananda Chakravorty - 2020-03-21 12:01
On 16th March, 2020, the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, nominated Rajan Gogoi to the Rajya Sabha. Though seemingly an innocuous notification, the said notification failed to mention that Rajan Gogoi had retired as the Chief Justice of India merely four months back. Those four lines of the Gazette notification contained the obituary of India’s judicial independence and integrity. Sushil Kutty - 2020-03-21 10:48
It is only in America that presidents get routinely pulled up for real and imaginary breach. Take Trump, for instance. He made the mistake of telling somebody in media, “We’re not a shipping clerk.” This, after he was questioned if his administration was coping with the demands to keep America ready to handle the coronavirus pandemic.
