CENTRE’S IRON ORE MINES AUCTION POLICY UNDER FIRE FROM ANIL AGARWAL

MINES MINISTRY DEFENDS ITS DECISION BUT VEDANTA CHAIRMAN HAS VALID POINTS
Kunal Bose - 2024-10-16 12:30
Vedanta chairman Anil Agarwal will find occasions to come out praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India a developed country by 2047. At the same time, Agarwal from time to time will get into the cross hairs of the government by giving vent to his frustrations over some policies related to his areas of business interest. Agarwal saying something about official policies matters because of the profile of Vedanta with major presence in aluminium, zinc, iron ore mining, petroleum and gas and copper. The point is while his words of criticism are not because of any pique, government officials feel that Agarwal, though well-meaning, could at times go off a tangent.

The image of an additional DGP (Law & Order) striding after a violent mob and waving a ‘Glock’ at them told the story of Bahraich and the communal violence that engulfed the border district. It also raised questions on the medieval art of stone-throwing, now specialized by Muslim youths rich in the science of handling firearms.

ALONG WITH RISE IN FOOD PRICES, COMMON PEOPLE ARE FACED WITH HARDER DAYS IN COMING WEEKS
Dr. Gyan Pathak - 2024-10-15 10:46
“NPPA revises the ceiling prices of eight scheduled drugs to meet the twin objectives of availability and affordability,” reads the title of the press release published on the Press Information Bureau’s website pib.gov.in. The title reverberated the sole esoteric Modi Mantra of the ritual of the price rise, that no one can understand excepting bearing the brunt of the hike.

PRIME MINISTER TRUDEAU’S ELECTORAL COMPULSIONS ARE BADLY HITTING INDO-CANADIAN TIES

NEW DELHI HAS EVERY REASON TO BE ANGRY AT INDULGENCE GIVEN TO SIKH EXTREMISTS
Sushil Kutty - 2024-10-15 10:39
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau needs no introduction. Trudeau hates India and last reports said Justin’s government is in big trouble and can be toppled “anytime”. The fact is, Justin Trudeau’s political insecurities and his desperate need for Canada's Sikh vote-bank have led him to this sorry plight. India-Canada ties have never been as low as they are now, prompting the Indian National Congress to say it wasn't so "in our time". This, as Trudeau accused Modi's India of making a "fundamental error" by "supporting criminal activities in Canada."

THE DANGER OF USING NUCLEAR WEAPONS IN MIDDLE EAST WAR IS NOW REAL

GLOBAL POWERS MUST STOP ANY FURTHER WIDENING OF ISRAEL-IRAN BATTLE
Dr. Arun Mitra - 2024-10-15 10:36
In the ongoing war in the Middle East, news that Iran could think of changing its nuclear doctrine is very disturbing but not unexpected. As the situation is developing in the region such adventurous happenings cannot be ruled out. Former Israeli heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu had in January 2024 renewed the call to use nuclear bomb on Gaza. The defence minister of Israel Yoav Gallant’s statement that Palestinians are “human animals” and his decision to impose a complete siege on Gaza, completely closing it off from basic necessities without which survival is impossible, is gross violation of human rights. These have added fuel to the fire in the existing humanitarian crisis . Such rhetoric will only worsen the already dangerous situation.
