The Tories faced mounting calls for a general election on Friday after Prime Minister Theresa May announced her resignation. Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn called for an “immediate” general election and said Ms May appeared to have accepted that “she cannot govern and nor can her divided and disintegrating party.”
