LOWERING INCOME AND RISING PRICES BADLY HITTING PEOPLE

CENTRE CLUELESS ON STEPS TO DEAL WITH DISTRESS
Gyan Pathak - 2019-12-13 10:59
Lowering income owing to serious slowdown in the economy and rising prices of goods and services is a deadly combination that has been delivered to us to be swallowed. Inflation is set to rise more sharply than expected. Moreover, the government of India does not seem to have any clue to contain them effectively in near future. The situation appears to be out of control of the government greatly affecting the well-being of the people pushing them into greater difficulties. CAB PROVISIONS ARE HELP FUL FOR HINDU REFUGEES

ALLEGATIONS ABOUT ANTI-MUSLIM BIAS UNFOUNDED
Sagarneel Sinha - 2019-12-13 10:56
There have been many opinions about Indian secularism and constitution being shattered because of the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019 passed by both houses of the parliament — a bill which will ease the hurdles coming in the way of refugees of six religions — Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Jainism, Christianity and Zoroastrianism — of three countries — Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh — to attain the Indian citizenship. Already, the bill has been facing strong criticism from the opposition parties like Congress, CPM, Trinamool Congress, NCP, CPI, Samajwadi Party, BSP, AAP, RJD etc and from the so-called liberals and intellectuals, mostly Leftists. Apart from that, the bill has been facing stringent protests in Assam and Tripura — where already Army battalions and paramilitary forces have been deployed to bring the restive situation under control.

Citizens Amendment Bill (CAB) is a majoritarian exercise carried out by the Modi government at the directive of the RSS. This would change the approach and attitude of the state towards its citizens. The new definition of citizenship will fundamentally change the century old concept of Indianness which was a way of life. But in future it would be guided more by the compulsion of commercialisation.

In an unforeseen regional political fallout, it has taken a statement made by Indian Home Minister Amit Shah of all things, to bring the worst of enemies in Bangladesh together to defend their country’s national pride and its secular credentials. Dhaka-based media has reported in detail the firm but restrained criticism of India expressed by Foreign Minister Mr. Abdul Momen and Mr Mirza Fakhrul Islam, leader of the pro-Islamist BNP(Bangladesh Nationalist Party). Both strongly countered Mr Shah’s assertion in the Rajya Sabha debate, alleging that the Hindu exodus from Bangladesh had occurred because of systemic persecution.
