CRUDE OIL FACES HEIGHTENED PRESSURES DESPITE FLARE-UP IN MIDDLE EAST TENSIONS

ISRAELI DECISION TO LEAVE OUT IRANIAN OIL INFRASTRUCTURE PLAYS A CRUCIAL ROLE
K Raveendran - 30-10-2024 12:11 GMT-0000
With clear indications that Israel is sparing Iranian oil facilities from attack, the downward pressure on oil has further increased and there is renewed talk of oil settling down around the level of $50 to the barrel. Crude has already fallen to early 70s and the demand-supply equations have not been particularly favourable to oil producers. The US presidential elections have added another layer of uncertainty and if it turns out to be another Trump presidency, there would be more American intervention to boost supplies.

RUSSIAN REVOLUTION IN 1917 HAD BIG IMPACT ON INDIA’S STRUGGLE FOR FREEDOM

EVEN AFTER 107 YEARS, LENINISM INSPIRES MOVEMENT FOR JUSTICE AND EQUITY GLOBALLY
D. Raja - 30-10-2024 12:09 GMT-0000
The current geopolitical landscape is marked by a multifaceted web of conflicts and alliances, with US imperialism acting as a destabilizing force. The United States' interventionist foreign policy—characterized by military interventions, economic sanctions, and the promotion of regime change—has contributed to regional instabilities, particularly in the Middle East and South Asia. This imperialist approach complicates global Geo-political landscape and undermines the role of the United Nations. It also heightens tensions in a multipolar world, challenging the quest for a stable and just global order. In this context, the lessons of the Russian Revolution of 1917 are of salient importance in bringing about peace, stability, mutual respect and harmony in global and domestic affairs, particularly in India.

STEEP PRICE RISE IN FOOD PRICES BADLY HURTING THE LIVELIHOOD OF COMMON PEOPLE

NARENDRA MODI GOVT FAILING TO ENSURE PROPER SUPPLY AND CHECK HOARDING
P. Sudhir - 30-10-2024 12:06 GMT-0000
In September this year, average price rise hit a nine-month high of 5.5 per cent. More significantly, prices of food items crossed 9.2 per cent. A majority of Indians spend nearly half of their income on food. So, food inflation hurts the most. Among food items, vegetables in particular saw a staggering price rise with year-on-year price increases of 42.4 per cent for tomatoes, 66.2 per cent for onions, and 65.3 per cent for potatoes. These three are the most consumed vegetables, across the country. While the government and its apologist economists trotted out the usual excuses of weather disruptions, the fact remains that every year, prices of some vegetables undergo an unbearable spike that has the effect of transferring crores of rupees from already strained family budgets to the coffers of big traders and wholesalers.

The day after, the Mahayuti stood divided with the BJP unable to stick to its stance. Instead, there is "our stance is very clear. All the parties in the alliance should decide their own candidate."

REMEMBERING LENIN LED OCTOBER REVOLUTION IN RUSSIA 107 YEARS AGO!

LESSONS FROM THE GREAT TRANSFORMATION ARE STILL RELEVANT IN 2024
Krishna Jha - 30-10-2024 12:00 GMT-0000
It was the beginning of the last century. Transition was already in the process. The context in Russia was maturing up for the October Revolution. It was one of the greatest events in human history when workers and the oppressed started rising to throw off feudal-capitalist regime under the leadership of Vladimir Ilych Lenin. He had famously said that revolution in Russia took place in the weakest link in the chain of imperialist capitalist system. Russia was not advanced as the other capitalist countries in Europe were, and hence it was as late as in 1870 that Georgi Plekhanov founded the Emancipation of the Labour League to organize the working class towards a revolutionary struggle.

Divya Malhotra - 30-10-2024 11:49 GMT-0000
Middle East has turned into a ticking time bomb as Iran and Israel stand on the verge of a full-blown war. A lot has transpired between the two countries since the October 2023 Hamas attack on Israel and the ensuing Gaza war. Israel is more than a thousand miles away from Iran. They do not share any border and there are no significant bilateral claims between them. And yet they are arch enemies.

JAPANESE INVESTMENT IS CRUCIAL NOW FOR INDIA’S MANUFACTURING GROWTH

AFTER DOWN TURN IN KISHIDA YEARS, THE FDI PICKED UP ONLY IN 2023
Subrata Majumder - 30-10-2024 11:46 GMT-0000
India-Japan relation has always been politically undeterred and peaceful as well as non-controversial. Eventually, the relation between the two nations tilted more to economic partnership, with Japan depending on India for natural resources and India harping on technology transfer through Japanese investment. In other words, there were three issues, which underscored the benchmark for India- Japan relation. They were bilateral trade, Japanese FDI in India and Japanese financial support, that is, ODA loan and grants.

INDIAN NEGOTIATORS SHOULD BE CAREFUL ABOUT ULTERIOR MOTIVES OF CHINA

CHINA SHOULD GIVE UP ITS EXPANSIONIST POLICY TO BUILD TRUST
ASHOK B SHARMA - 29-10-2024 15:45 GMT-0000
The relationship between India and China is a contentious issue. The boundary issue between the two nations is a knotty problem. China has the concept of expansionism. It does not follow the McMahon Line and Johnson Line drawn by the erstwhile British colonial rulers in consultation with relevant parties. However, in regard to Myanmar, it agrees on McMahon Line, but not in the case with India. As a result in 1962 China defied these two lines, invaded and occupied large chunks of Indian territory. Thus, the Line of Actual Control (LAC) was drawn between the two countries. Still not satisfied with the occupation, Beijing claims parts of Indian territory like Ladakh and Arunachal as its own. Chinese expansionism is not the concept of Chinese Communist Party alone, it existed with the imperialist dynasties and the Nationalist Kuomintang Party.
